How to Get Tree Service Leads in 2026: 9 Sources Ranked by Cost per Booked Job

    TL;DR

    • Tree service leads are cheap by home-service standards: Google Local Services Ads ran $32 to $71 a lead in 99 Calls' client accounts over the last twelve months, and $46.15 on average over the last three months.
    • Only one vendor prints a per-lead price for the trade. 99 Calls sells organic leads at $33.99 flat. Eyefly Digital charges a flat $1,500 to $4,000 a month for an exclusive territory, and Kaboom Leads prints no price and keeps the website if you cancel.
    • The searches are open: "tree service near me" has 62,000 US searches a month at a keyword difficulty of 0, "emergency tree removal" 8,400 at 0, "stump grinding near me" 11,000 at 0 (Ahrefs, November 2, 2026).
    • Storms are the trade's own lead source. NOAA counted 203 billion-dollar severe storm events from 1980 to 2024, 4.5 a year, and the page that ranks for "emergency tree service" has to exist before the wind does.
    • Skip any program that owns your website, domain or phone number, and skip shared leads for a removal the homeowner needs today.

Tree removal averages $750 a job on HomeAdvisor's cost guide, with a normal range of $200 to $2,000 and large removals up to $10,000. That ticket size is why the lead sellers want the trade and why most of them refuse to print a price. This guide ranks nine sources of tree service leads for a one-to-three-crew company by what they cost per booked job, with every vendor figure read from the vendor's own page on November 2, 2026 and the benchmarks named.

VerdictPaid tree leads run $32 to $214 each. At a $750 average job and a one-in-three close, Local Services Ads pays for itself on every removal; the flat-fee vendors need 15 to 40 jobs a month to beat it.

Why tree service leads are different

Two buyers, nothing alike. The planned buyer has a leaning oak they have worried about for two years; they search "tree removal cost", get three quotes and decide over a week. The emergency buyer has a limb through the garage roof; they search "emergency tree removal", call the first three results and book whoever answers. Our tree service SEO guide splits the website around those two, and the lead plan splits the same way. The planned buyer is won on the cost page and the map pack. The emergency buyer is won on whoever is ranked and answering at 6am after a storm, and NOAA's count of 203 billion-dollar severe storm events in 45 years, 4.5 a year, says that morning comes to every market.

The trade is also small and fragmented. BLS counted 55,160 tree trimmers and pruners employed in 2025 at a median $50,960 a year, TCIA has about 1,400 member companies, and the lead vendors know that a one-crew company cannot run its own campaign while it is in a bucket truck. That is the pitch behind every flat-fee program in the table, and it is why the terms matter more than the price.

The nine sources, ranked by cost per booked job

    1. A Google Business Profile that wins the emergency searches

"Tree service near me" has 62,000 US searches a month at a keyword difficulty of 0, "tree removal near me" 45,000, "stump grinding near me" 11,000 at 0, and "emergency tree service" 7,500 at 0 with a $5 click cost, the highest in the trade. All of them resolve in the map pack, and the pack is won on proximity, review count and review recency. A profile with 20 reviews where the newest is eight months old loses to one with 40 where three arrived last week. Primary category Tree service, every job type listed as a service, crew photos with the equipment in frame, and a review ask by text the afternoon the job is done. The review playbook has the script.

    2. Google Local Services Ads

Tree services is an eligible Local Services category, which puts the Google Screened badge above the map pack on exactly the searches above. 99 Calls' tree service accounts paid $32 to $71 a lead over the last twelve months and $46.15 on average over the last three, which makes it the cheapest paid lead in this guide and cheaper than most trades in our LSA cost data. Google's screening for the category lists a background check, business registration, general liability insurance and a state-level license where one exists. You pay per valid lead, a missed call counts if the customer stays on the line more than 20 seconds, and Google recommends a budget of at least ten leads a week while the bidding settles. Google also says "if you regularly fail to answer calls or respond to messages, your ad ranking may be affected", which in this trade means the phone rides in the truck.

    3. A page per job type, with the city in the title, and a storm page before the storm

Job values in tree care span an order of magnitude, from a $150 stump grind to a $10,000 removal, and the page you rank determines which end you get. "Tree removal", "tree trimming", "stump grinding" and "emergency tree removal" each get a page with the city in the H1, your price range stated honestly, and photos of your crew doing that work. The storm page is the one competitors skip: a permanent emergency page with the phone number above the fold, an honest response-time promise and insurance language, published in calm weather so it has months of history when the wind arrives. You cannot publish it during the storm and rank for it. The page set and the 90-day plan are in the SEO guide.

    4. A cost page that gives a number

"Tree removal cost" has 6,700 searches a month at a difficulty of 3, and "tree removal cost calculator" 3,100. The planned buyer is on that page six months before the job, and the company that prints a real range by trunk size and access wins the quote request. HomeAdvisor's national figures are the frame: $750 average, $200 to $2,000 normal range, small trees $150 to $450, medium $450 to $1,200. Put yours next to them, add an instant-range tool if your pricing is predictable, and capture the email. A roofing client of ours saw 2x qualified leads in 60 days from giving a number instead of a form, and tree removal prices more predictably than roofs.

    5. Storm response, prepared in advance

When a windstorm hits, searches for "emergency tree removal" and "storm damage tree service" rise several times over for about two days and then fall back. The companies that take those calls are the ones already ranked, already answering and already budgeted. The checklist: the storm page from source three, a Google Business Profile post the same morning with a photo from the first job, the Local Services weekly budget raised before the forecast lands, and an answering arrangement that does not go to voicemail at 5am. Every storm season funds the quiet months, and none of it works if it is set up the day the limbs come down.

    6. Landscapers, realtors and insurance adjusters

The landscaper sees the dead ash before the homeowner does. The realtor needs a stump gone before the listing photos. The adjuster has a claim with a tree on a roof and needs a certified company today. A standing referral arrangement with five lawn and landscape companies, the two realtors who list the most houses in your area and the local independent adjusters is the lowest-cost lead source in the trade, and it pays in both directions, because a tree company sees plenty of lawns that need someone else.

    7. Google Ads, on emergency and removal terms only

Search ads cost $3 to $5 a click across the tree service keyword family, and 99 Calls' tree accounts paid $66 to $214 a lead with a median of $94 from January to October 2026, against LocaliQ's $38.47 average for the landscaping category. The spread is intent: "emergency tree removal [city]" at exact match converts on the first call, "tree trimming" at $1.70 a click attracts homeowners with pruning shears. Run it after the profile and the Local Services account exist, with call tracking, and run it hardest in the 48 hours after a storm when Local Services caps out.

    8. Flat-fee exclusive vendors

Eyefly Digital charges a flat monthly fee, "$1,500 to $4,000 per month" for the average partner, for one contractor per area, with a credit policy that says if you receive fewer than 15 leads in a month you are not charged for it, and no contract term. That is a clean deal if the market is large enough: at $2,500 a month and 40 leads it is $62 a lead, which is Local Services territory with the work done for you. Kaboom Leads prints no price at all, prefers a flat monthly fee, and states that on cancellation the website, domain and phone numbers stay with Kaboom. 99 Calls sells organic leads at $33.99 each on its $399 a month Growth tier, free on the $1,299 Growth Pro tier, no contract. Read the credit policy and the ownership clause before the price.

    9. Angi, Thumbtack, Bark and Networx

None prints a per-lead price for tree service. Angi's pro terms, effective October 6, 2026, describe pay-per-lead with a monthly budget, subscriptions with a fixed auto-renewing term and "up to 10 percent" renewal increases, an early termination fee, a 30-day window to dispute a charge, and the line that it "is not an exclusive contract". Thumbtack lets you set your own lead price, limits each homeowner to five pros in the first four hours and refunds automatically if nobody gets a reply in 72 hours. Bark sells credit packs that expire in three months and returns the first pack if you win nothing. For a planned trimming job with a three-week decision, one of these can fill a slow week. For a tree on a roof, you are one of five.

Answer the phone before you buy a lead

Every vendor in this guide has written the same rule into its terms. Google ranks Local Services ads partly on responsiveness and counts a missed call as a valid lead after 20 seconds. Kaboom's qualified-lead policy says a missed call does not invalidate a lead. Thumbtack's refund rules require a reply within four business hours. A tree company that lets calls ring through to voicemail from the bucket is paying $46 to $94 for leads that book the next company on the list. A call-answering arrangement, a text back inside five minutes with a photo request, and a same-day site visit for anything that mentions a roof are the cheapest cost-per-lead reductions available, and the follow-up system covers how to set them up.

    Pro tip

Ask for a photo on the first text. A homeowner's phone picture tells you trunk size, access and whether there is a structure under it, which is enough to give a range and book the visit without driving across the county for a $150 stump.

    Three to skip

Skip any program that owns the asset. Kaboom keeps the website, domain and phone numbers when you leave, and Tree Lead Pro's $599 site lives on $50 a month hosting you do not control. The pages and the number are the lead source. Rent them and the leads leave with the vendor.

Skip shared leads for emergency work. A homeowner with a limb through the roof has already called the first company that answered by the time the fifth pro on Thumbtack opens the notification.

Skip auto-renewing subscriptions with a termination fee. Angi's own terms describe fixed terms that renew with up to a 10 percent increase and an early termination fee, with charge disputes limited to 30 days. The trade is seasonal and your budget should be too; a contract that bills the same in January as in September is written for the vendor.

    $750

average tree removal on HomeAdvisor's cost guide, updated June 2026, against a $32 to $71 Local Services lead. One removal in three pays for a week of leads.

    Frequently asked questions

How much do tree service leads cost?

Google Local Services Ads ran $32 to $71 a lead in 99 Calls' tree service accounts over the twelve months to November 2026, and $46.15 on average over the last three months. Google Ads ran $66 to $214 with a median of $94. 99 Calls sells organic leads at $33.99 flat. Eyefly Digital charges a flat $1,500 to $4,000 a month for an exclusive territory, and the marketplaces print no per-lead price for the trade.

What is the best way to get tree service leads?

A Google Business Profile with a steady review flow, because "tree service near me" and "emergency tree removal" resolve in the map pack, then Local Services Ads at $32 to $71 a lead, then a page per job type plus a permanent storm page. Those three produce most of the work for a one-to-three-crew company. Referrals from landscapers and adjusters are the cheapest source after that.

Can tree services use Google Local Services Ads?

Yes. Tree services is an eligible category. Google's screening lists a background check, business registration, general liability insurance and a state-level license where the state requires one. You pay per valid lead, a missed call counts after 20 seconds, and Google no longer credits leads for a job type or area you do not serve, so set both before the ad goes live.

Are Angi leads worth it for a tree service?

Angi prints no per-lead price for the trade. Its pro terms describe pay-per-lead with a budget, auto-renewing subscriptions with up to a 10 percent increase, an early termination fee and a 30-day dispute window, and state that the contract is not exclusive. For planned trimming work in a slow week it can fill the schedule; for emergency work the shared model loses to whoever answers first.

How do tree companies get storm work?

By being ranked and answering before the storm. A permanent emergency page published months ahead, a profile with recent reviews, a raised Local Services budget when the forecast lands, and an answering arrangement that works at 5am. Search volume for emergency terms rises several times over for about two days after a storm, and the companies that take those calls set everything up in calm weather.
