TL;DR
Search "scorpion marketing reviews" and the first page, on October 19, 2026, is a Reddit thread, a Yelp question, Scorpion's own product page, Glassdoor, two job-site salary pages and a video-game forum. Nobody is answering the question with sources, so here they are. Scorpion is a 25-year-old Valencia, California marketing platform for home services, legal and healthcare that acquired 1SEO in June 2026 and holds preferred partnerships with ServiceTitan and Clio. G2 rates it 4.5 out of 5. The Better Business Bureau rates it A+ and accredited since 2016, with a 3.78 customer review average across 36 reviews, six complaints in three years and four in the last twelve months, the newest filed September 21, 2026 by a law firm that says it paid about $75,000 over five years. The complaints are about the same three things every time: the website lives on Scorpion's proprietary CMS and has to be rebuilt elsewhere when you leave, the contract runs 12 months on marketing technology and SEO with an auto-renewal, and ownership of accounts like the Google Business Profile has to be chased after cancellation. Scorpion's own FAQ confirms all three in its own words. Pricing is not published; the one sourced figure is a BBB complaint citing $4,200 for HVAC marketing services, and third-party estimates run $3,000 to $7,000 a month before ad spend. The fit is a $5 million-plus, multi-location, ServiceTitan-running company that wants one vendor for everything. Under that, the contract and the platform cost more than the service.
Who we are to review this
Skill Mammoth is a Minneapolis agency that sells SEO, websites and Local Services Ads management to the same contractors Scorpion sells to, at $750 to $3,000 a month with no contract, and we have a Skill Mammoth versus Scorpion page that says so. That is a conflict of interest and you should read this with it in mind. What we can offer that the Reddit thread cannot is sourcing: every claim below is quoted from Scorpion's own FAQ, from a review site with a date, or from a BBB complaint with a date, and the places where the evidence is thin are labeled. Several of the law-firm reviews of Scorpion that rank elsewhere are written by competing law-firm agencies, and one of them, Juris Digital, published corrections in October 2026 to claims it had made about Scorpion's billing and website terms. We have tried not to need corrections.
What Scorpion is
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Valencia, California, Scorpion sells a marketing platform rather than a retainer: a proprietary content management system for the website, a reporting layer it calls RevenueMAX, and managed services on top for SEO, paid search, Local Services Ads, Meta and reputation. The verticals are home services, legal, healthcare and franchise. In June 2026 it acquired 1SEO Digital Agency of Philadelphia, which Street Fight reported on June 22, 2026 alongside the preferred partnerships with ServiceTitan in home services and Clio in legal; Scorpion's chief revenue officer framed the deal as strengthening its "AI-driven solutions," and the article framed it as consolidation, with smaller agencies joining platforms because attribution and AI tooling are expensive to build. For a contractor, the practical meaning is that Scorpion is the vendor that plugs directly into ServiceTitan's data, which is the strongest reason to hire it and the thing that makes leaving hard.
What the ratings actually say
| Source (Oct 19, 2026) | Rating | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| G2 | 4.5 / 5 | Software and platform reviews; 60 reviews as of an August 2026 check by a third party |
| Better Business Bureau | A+, accredited since March 10, 2016; 3.78 / 5 customer reviews across 36 | Six complaints in three years, four in the last twelve months, read live October 19, 2026 |
| Clutch | Listed, not a review-volume source for Scorpion | Scorpion sells direct, so the agency directories carry little |
| Reddit and Yelp | Unrated threads | The top two organic results for the search; owner anecdotes, no sourcing |
| Verdict | An A+ BBB rating and a 3.78 customer average on the same page describe a company that answers complaints and a customer base that files them. Both are consistent with the themes below. | |
What reviewers like
The account managers, by name, which is the same pattern as ServiceTitan's reviews. "Our experience with Scorpion has been outstanding, largely because of our account manager," wrote Taylor D. in a BBB review on July 30, 2026. "We have seen incredible consistency and growth from our SEO and GLS ads," wrote William G. on May 11, 2026, GLS being Google Local Services. The platform's reporting, which ties calls and jobs to channels when ServiceTitan is connected, is the other consistent positive, and it is a real one: the attribution guide explains why most contractors cannot answer "which channel booked that job," and a Scorpion client with ServiceTitan can.
What reviewers complain about
Three themes, and the BBB complaints and reviews from the last year cover all of them. The newest review, from UAG F. on September 25, 2026, one star: "Once you sign up, they keep you in contract, they take your money," with a claim that Scorpion removed a website the reviewer says cost over $50,000 after billing for services the reviewer says were never ordered. The newest complaint, September 21, 2026, is an immigration law firm that has been a client since May 2021 and says it paid about $75,000; it alleges reporting that counts rankings for terms with no search volume, a map-ranking collapse, a false Florida Bar badge on the site, and a July 2026 upsell email that it says was in fact a new 12-month sales order; it says Scorpion denied any breach and offered mutual termination in exchange for a chargeback waiver and a confidential settlement. These are the complainants' claims, posted on the BBB and answered by Scorpion, not findings. The website on exit: a December 8, 2025 complaint describes an insufficient transition period to move a website to another host after cancellation. Account ownership: a June 29, 2026 complaint describes a former client unable to regain Primary Owner status of its Google Business Profile; Scorpion responded on July 9, 2026, attributed the delay to an unmonitored inbox, and transferred ownership. Results against the fee: an April 28, 2026 complaint from a home services client that contracted in August 2025 for $4,200 in HVAC marketing services reports an SEO performance score falling from 4.0 to 0.4 and promised backlinks and citations not delivered; Scorpion's response says services were delivered as agreed. A fourth theme shows up in the secondary reviews rather than the BBB: ad spend and management fees not clearly separated on the invoice. None of these is a fraud allegation. They are the predictable friction of a platform company, and Scorpion's own FAQ describes the platform honestly.
The contract, in Scorpion's own words
From the FAQ on scorpion.co, read October 19, 2026. On term: "Yes, Scorpion typically requires a 12-month contract for our marketing technology," while "digital advertising services like Google Ads, LSAs, Meta, etc. are typically month-to-month terms." On the website: "Yes, you own your website after the length of your contract with Scorpion is complete," with the qualifier that Scorpion keeps the underlying system "much like a platform such as WordPress," and then the sentence that matters: "You'll need to work with another vendor to rebuild your website on a content management system of your choosing." Scorpion says it will hand over static files, design assets and content and transfer Google Analytics, Local Services Ads and social accounts. On price: "The investment you decide to make with Scorpion depends on your business goals." So the website is yours in the sense that the files are yours, and not yours in the sense that nothing runs without their CMS, which is why the transition complaint exists and why our comparison page leads with ownership.
What it costs
Scorpion does not publish prices, and the FAQ ties the figure to your goals. The one sourced number in the public record is the April 2026 BBB complaint's $4,200 for HVAC marketing services under an August 2025 contract. Third-party estimates, none confirmed by Scorpion, put management fees at $3,000 to $5,000 a month in some write-ups and $3,000 to $7,000 in others, before ad spend, which for a Local Services Ads and Google Ads program adds whatever the market charges; our LSA cost guide puts most home service leads at $20 to $80 each. The questions to ask before a demo are the first-year total including technology, services and a realistic ad budget; the early-termination formula, which the secondary reviews describe as the remaining balance plus amortized setup; and the exact transition window for the website. The pricing transparency study found 30 percent of 271 agencies show a price; Scorpion is in the other 70.
Comparing Scorpion against a flat fee?
Fifteen minutes on your revenue, your truck count and whether you run ServiceTitan. We will say whether a platform contract or a month-to-month program fits, including when it is Scorpion.
Who Scorpion fits
A $5 million-and-up home services company, often multi-location, running ServiceTitan, that wants one vendor for the website, the ads, the SEO and the reporting, and has someone in the office to manage the relationship. At that size the proprietary CMS is a feature, because it is integrated with everything else, and the 12-month term is normal. The 1SEO acquisition and the ServiceTitan partnership both point the same direction: Scorpion is building for the companies the trades' consolidators are buying, and if you are one of those, it is a credible call. Our HVAC marketing companies list and home service marketing agencies list rank it alongside the other enterprise options.
Who should pick something else
A one-to-ten-truck company that will feel $3,000 to $7,000 a month plus ad spend, that does not run ServiceTitan, or that wants to own a website it can move. The contract is the same whether you are $1 million or $10 million, and at $1 million the rebuild on exit is a real cost. Alternatives with published prices: Hook Agency at $2,800 a month for SEO and $12,000 to $24,000 for a site you own; Built-Right Digital at $1,499 to $4,999 in flat tiers by revenue; RYNO, which merged with Blue Corona in October 2025 and sits at $5,000 and up for the same enterprise buyer, covered in our RYNO comparison; and ours at $750 to $3,000 with no contract. The SEO cost guide has the market ranges to hold any of those against.
The verdict
Scorpion is not the villain of the Reddit thread and not the hero of its own case studies. It is a platform company with a 4.5 on G2, an A+ at the BBB, a 3.78 from the customers who bothered to review it there, and a contract whose terms it prints. The terms are the review: 12 months, a proprietary CMS, and a rebuild when you leave. If your company is large enough that those are normal, the reporting and the ServiceTitan integration are worth the price. If it is not, pay for a site you own and a program you can cancel, and read the FAQ before the demo so the account manager does not have to explain it after.
Frequently asked questions
Is Scorpion Marketing legit?
Yes. Founded in 2001, headquartered in Valencia, California, BBB accredited since 2016 with an A+ rating, a 4.5 on G2, preferred partnerships with ServiceTitan and Clio, and an acquisition of 1SEO in June 2026. The complaints are about contract terms, website portability and account ownership on exit, not fraud.
How much does Scorpion Marketing cost?
Not published. Scorpion's FAQ says the investment depends on your goals. The one sourced figure is a BBB complaint citing $4,200 for HVAC marketing services under an August 2025 contract; third-party estimates run $3,000 to $7,000 a month in management fees before ad spend. Ask for the first-year total and the early-termination formula in writing.
Do you own your website with Scorpion?
After the contract, per Scorpion's FAQ: you own the domain, content, imagery and design assets, but the site runs on Scorpion's proprietary CMS, and the FAQ says you will "need to work with another vendor to rebuild your website on a content management system of your choosing." Budget for a rebuild if you leave.
Does Scorpion require a contract?
Per the FAQ, typically 12 months for marketing technology and services such as SEO, and month to month for digital advertising such as Google Ads, LSAs and Meta. Secondary reviews and BBB complaints describe auto-renewal and early-exit fees tied to the remaining balance; confirm both in the master services agreement.
What are the most common Scorpion complaints?
From the BBB in the last year: an insufficient transition period to move the website after cancellation (December 2025), difficulty regaining Google Business Profile ownership after leaving (June 2026, resolved in July), and SEO results against the fee (April 2026). Positive reviews in the same period praise account managers by name and growth from SEO and Local Services Ads; Richard V., May 14, 2026, has been a client for nine years.
What are the alternatives to Scorpion for contractors?
Hook Agency (SEO from $2,800 a month, sites you own), Built-Right Digital ($1,499 to $4,999 flat tiers), RYNO with Blue Corona (enterprise, $5,000 and up), and Skill Mammoth ($750 to $3,000 a month, no contract, sites owned outright). Which one fits depends on revenue, truck count and whether you run ServiceTitan.
