Core Web Vitals
Also called: CWV, LCP, INP, CLS
Core Web Vitals are Google's three page-experience measurements taken from real Chrome users: Largest Contentful Paint for load speed, Interaction to Next Paint for responsiveness, and Cumulative Layout Shift for visual stability.
In practice
A page passes at 2.5 seconds or less for LCP, 200 milliseconds or less for INP, and 0.1 or less for CLS, measured on phones. The numbers come from Chrome's real-user data, not a lab test, so they reflect the phones customers actually use.
They are a small ranking signal and a large conversion signal. A page that shifts under the thumb loses the tap on the call button.

- Page speedPage speed is how quickly a page becomes usable for a visitor, measured on a phone over a cellular connection, and Google reports it through Core Web Vitals.
- Mobile-firstMobile-first means a site is designed for the phone screen before the desktop, because most home service searches happen on a phone and Google indexes the mobile version of every page.
- Server-side renderingServer-side rendering means the server sends a finished HTML page instead of a blank shell that JavaScript fills in later, so search engines and AI crawlers see the content on the first request.
