    Search intent

Also called: Keyword intent, Commercial intent

Search intent is what the person typing a query actually wants: to hire, to compare, to learn, or to reach one specific site, and the page that matches that want is the one that ranks.

    In practice

AC repair near me is someone ready to call. AC repair cost is someone deciding whether to call. How does an AC work is a student. Each needs a different page, and a service page will not rank for the question and a blog post will not rank for the hire.

Build the hire pages first, the cost pages second, and the explainers last.
