Zero-click search
Also called: No-click search
A zero-click search is one where the person gets what they need on the results page, from the map pack, an AI Overview or a snippet, and never visits a website.
In practice
For a contractor the important zero-click action is the call button in the map pack. Those calls never show in website analytics, so a site can look flat while the phone is busier.
Track calls from the Business Profile in its own insights and with a tracking number, or the best channel looks like it is doing nothing.

- Map packThe map pack is the block of three business listings with a map that Google shows above the regular results for local searches such as plumber near me.
- AI OverviewsAI Overviews are the AI-written summaries Google shows at the top of some search results, with links to the pages it drew the answer from.
- Call trackingCall tracking assigns a different phone number to each marketing source, or swaps the number shown on the website per visitor, so every call can be tied to the ad, search or page that produced it.
