    Grok Pricing (2026): The X Subscription at $8, $30, $100 and $200

    TL;DR

Grok is no longer sold on its own to new customers. As of October 30, 2026, a new sign-up buys "The X Subscription," one plan that bundles Grok, the Cursor coding editor and X Premium benefits, in four paid tiers: Plus at $8 a month, Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200, with annual billing at $80, $300, $1,000 and $2,000. Usage is a single weekly pool shared across every Grok product, sized only as multipliers (Premium 4x Plus, Super 15x, Ultra 50x), and no page prints a message or image count. The old SuperGrok, SuperGrok Heavy and X Premium+ plans continue for people already paying, with no legacy price printed anywhere readable. The API's flagship model, Grok 4.7, is $2 per million input tokens and $6 output. For a contractor who wants an assistant, Premium at $30 is the real entry point, because Plus leaves out Grok Bot and the latest models; for most shops, ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro at $20 does the same job for less.

We pay for ChatGPT and Claude and set both up for home service companies, and we have watched Grok's pricing page change shape three times in a year. This is the version that was live on October 30, 2026: every plan, every price, what the usage pool actually means, the API rates if someone builds you something, and which plan, if any, a small business should buy. Every figure comes from xAI's own docs or the grok.com plans page that day, and we say where a page could not be read.

The X Subscription: what new customers can buy

    PlanMonthlyAnnualUsage vs PlusWhat it adds
Free$0$0"Limited"Grok chat and voice with free-tier limits; standard X
Plus$8$80 ($7 a month)BaseGrok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build; Cursor; X checkmark, creator tools, fewer ads
Premium$30$300 ($25 a month)4xGrok Bot, the latest Grok models, faster chat, AI images and video, cloud agents, code hosting; full X Premium+ benefits
Super$100$1,000 ($84 a month)15x1080p video, priority model access at peak times, faster generations
Ultra$200$2,000 ($167 a month)50x"Most powerful Chat models," earliest access to everything, fastest responses
VerdictPremium at $30 is the first tier with Grok Bot and the current models. Plus is the X checkmark with a small AI pool attached.

The docs put it in two sentences: new self-serve customers choose from The X Subscription plans, while existing Cursor, SuperGrok and X Premium plans continue, and "Switching is optional." On October 30 the plans page was also running a first-month promotion, 50 percent off Premium, Super and Ultra, so $15, $50 and $100 for month one, then list price. Prices exclude sales tax, and third-party models inside Cursor (Claude, GPT) are not included in any tier; they bill at API rates from a prepaid balance.

    What "usage" means on Grok

Since June 2026, paid Grok users have had one weekly pool instead of separate daily limits per product. Chat, Voice, Imagine, Build, Grok Bot and Cursor all draw from the same allowance, at different rates: "a chat message uses little compute; generating a high-quality video or running a long coding task uses far more." When the pool is spent, paid features pause until the weekly reset, and you fall back to the free-tier limits on chat and voice.

What no xAI page prints is a number. Every tier is described only as a multiple of Plus. That is the biggest practical difference from ChatGPT, whose help pages at least describe allowances per feature, and it means the honest way to size a Grok plan is to buy Premium, watch the usage view for two weeks and move. Top-ups exist, with a $5 minimum, bought on the web only and expiring after a year. They are priced "at standard rates, which means the cost per action is higher than the effective rate you get from the included weekly usage." A prepaid balance does not raise the monthly extra-usage cap, and auto top-up stays off until you turn it on.

Grok Bot, and why Plus is not really a Grok plan

Grok Bot is the agent product: AI teammates with names and jobs and "context that compounds over time," each running on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem and terminal, started from the apps or by tagging a bot on X. The docs are explicit that "Plus does not include Grok Bot," and the Plus card on grok.com lists neither the latest models nor faster responses. So the $8 tier buys the X checkmark, fewer ads and a base-sized AI pool. If the reason you are reading this is Grok itself, the entry price is $30.

Two more facts from the same pages. Companions, the animated characters, are iOS only with "no plans to bring them to the web or Android." Grok Studio is gone; "use Grok Build instead." Generated images and video carry a Grok watermark that cannot be removed.

If you already pay for SuperGrok or X Premium

Nothing changes unless you choose it. Your current plan and price "continue unless you change or cancel." The switch to The X Subscription is permanent, cancels the old subscriptions at checkout with a prorated refund, and "Support can't undo it for you." xAI maps the old names to the new tiers for Grok Bot purposes: X Premium+ and SuperGrok sit at the same level as legacy Cursor Pro, SuperGrok Plus matches Pro+, and SuperGrok Heavy matches Ultra. The one line in the FAQ that should give a legacy customer pause: "Large unexpected invoices are often a SuperGrok Heavy yearly subscription, not API usage." Heavy is billed annually, and its price is not printed on any page we could open; x.ai itself and help.x.com both sat behind a Cloudflare wall on October 30, so X's own Basic, Premium and Premium+ prices are not in this post. Do not take them from memory either; the plans have been renamed twice.

    Teams

Team seats are Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200 per seat, mixable in one workspace, with Plus not sold to teams and a team allowed to be one person. Each paid seat has its own weekly pool ("seats do not share weekly pools"), the team shares one prepaid balance for overage, and admins set a single spending cap, fixed or per seat. Teams pay a "Cursor Token Rate" of $0.25 per million tokens on third-party models inside Cursor, on top of the model's API price; Grok itself is exempt. Each member connects a personal X account for the X benefits; organization-managed X accounts cannot be connected. Annual team pricing is not printed.

Legacy Grok Business licenses (SuperGrok and SuperGrok Heavy per seat, bought at console.x.ai) continue with no price printed, and switching a Business team to The X Subscription cancels the old license with a refund of unused days. Enterprise is contact-sales: SSO, SCIM, domain association and custom retention, with SOC 2 Type 2 and a BAA questionnaire for HIPAA. Grok is also sold through Google Cloud's Vertex AI and Microsoft Foundry, billed through those clouds, with no price printed on xAI's side.

The API, for when someone builds you something

If a developer wires Grok into your website chat, your phone system or a report, you pay per million tokens. The docs now carry the company name "SpaceXSI" and the product name "xAI API"; we record both as printed.

VerdictGrok 4.3 at $1.25 in and $2.50 out is the value model for a website chatbot. A 2,000-conversation month costs single-digit dollars in tokens.

The rest of the rate card: images at $0.02 to $0.05 each (the $0.05 quality tier retires November 2, 2026), video at $0.02 to $0.08 a second, speech-to-speech at $0.08 a minute, server-side tools such as web search and X search at $5 per 1,000 calls, batch at 20 percent off, priority processing at double, and a US-only endpoint at 1.1 times the global rate. Rate limits step up by cumulative spend at $50, $250, $1,000 and $5,000, and never step down. There is no free API credit printed, and credits are non-refundable. Grok 4.7 Fast, at double the token rate, exists only inside Cursor and Grok Build, not on the public API.

VerdictGrok's usable entry point is $30 where everyone else's is $20. The bundle argument only holds if you already pay for X Premium or Cursor.

The comparison that matters for a contractor is the $30 Premium tier against ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro at $20. Grok's pitch is the bundle: if you already pay for X Premium+ or for Cursor, Premium replaces both and adds the agent. If you pay for neither, you are paying $10 a month more for an assistant that does not print its limits. Our ChatGPT pricing and Claude pricing guides have the seat-level detail, and which AI platform for business covers the choice.

Three things a business should check first

Data. The API "never trains on your API inputs or outputs without your explicit permission," stores requests encrypted for 30 days, and offers zero data retention per team. The consumer app is different: grok.com has an "improve the model" toggle in Data Controls, and when it is on, Build-mode chats may be used for model improvements. On a team plan, Privacy Mode means customer data is not used for training. Turn the toggle off before anyone pastes a customer list in.

Live information. On the API, Grok "has no knowledge of current events or data beyond what was present in its training data" unless you enable the web search or X search tools, which are the $5-per-1,000-calls line above. Grok 4.7's knowledge cutoff is May 2026.

Who sells it. "Subscriptions are only sold directly through X Subscription Corp. We do not authorize any resellers or third-party sellers." If an agency offers to put you on Grok, you are buying a seat at list price plus their fee.

    Frequently asked questions

    How much does Grok cost?

As of October 30, 2026, new customers buy The X Subscription: Free at $0, Plus at $8 a month, Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200, or $80, $300, $1,000 and $2,000 a year. Every paid tier bundles Grok, Cursor and X Premium benefits. Legacy SuperGrok and X Premium+ subscribers keep their current price.

    Is SuperGrok still available?

Not to new customers. SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus and SuperGrok Heavy continue for people already subscribed, switching to The X Subscription is optional and permanent, and xAI prints no legacy price on any page we could read on October 30, 2026.

What is the difference between Grok Plus and Premium?

Plus at $8 includes a base AI usage pool, Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build, Cursor, and an X checkmark, but not Grok Bot or the latest models. Premium at $30 has four times the usage, Grok Bot, the latest models, faster responses and full X Premium+ benefits.

How much usage do you get on each Grok plan?

xAI prints only multipliers: Premium is 4 times Plus, Super 15 times and Ultra 50 times, in one weekly pool shared across Chat, Voice, Imagine, Build, Grok Bot and Cursor. No message, image or token count is printed for any tier.

Does Grok have an annual plan?

    Yes. Plus is $80 a year, Premium $300, Super $1,000 and Ultra $2,000, which works out to $7, $25, $84 and $167 a month.

How much does the Grok API cost?

Grok 4.7, the flagship, is $2 per million input tokens, $0.50 cached and $6 output below 200,000 prompt tokens, doubling above that. Grok 4.3 is $1.25 in and $2.50 out. Images run $0.02 to $0.05, video $0.02 to $0.08 a second, and tools such as web search $5 per 1,000 calls.

Does Grok train on my data?

The API does not train on inputs or outputs without explicit permission and deletes stored requests after 30 days. The consumer app has an "improve the model" toggle in Data Controls that is worth turning off, and team plans with Privacy Mode enabled are excluded from training.

Want AI doing the work instead of answering questions?

Fix one thing from $1,000: an AI receptionist, a quote follow-up, or Jobber talking to QuickBooks, scoped up front and done in 2 to 4 weeks. You own it.
