Housecall Pro Alternatives in 2026: 6 Options, Priced

    TL;DR

Almost nobody leaves Housecall Pro because of the software. They leave because of the seat price. Essentials includes 5 users at $149 a month, then charges $100 for every additional user; MAX includes 8 at $299, then $75 each. A twelve-person shop on Essentials pays $849 a month. Ranked replacements: Jobber for most crews under ten, ServiceM8 if headcount is the problem because it prices by job volume with unlimited users from $29, Service Fusion for a flat company price above ten people, and Kickserv if you want the cheapest competent option at $60 for five users. Skip ServiceTitan until you are past ten technicians. And if you are a one-truck shop on Basic at $59, stay where you are.

Disclosure up front, because it affects the ranking: Skill Mammoth is an official Jobber partner and our readers get 20 percent off through us. Jobber still comes first below, and the reasoning is laid out so you can discount it if you like. We have no arrangement with any other vendor here. Every price was read off each company's live pricing page this week, with annual and monthly billing labelled separately because the gap runs 20 to 25 percent.

First, the number you are actually running from

Housecall Pro's plans are reasonable until you hire. Basic is $59 a month on annual billing ($79 monthly) for a single user. Essentials is $149 annual ($189 monthly) and bundles five users. MAX is $299 annual ($329 monthly) and bundles eight. Above those counts, the meter starts.

VerdictMove from Essentials to MAX the moment you pass eight people; the $75 seat beats the $100 seat and the base difference pays for itself. Then look outside at around twelve.

All HCP figures above use annual billing plus the published overage rates of $100 per extra user on Essentials and $75 on MAX. Our full Housecall Pro pricing breakdown covers the payment processing rates and the add-ons that sit outside the plan.

    1. Jobber, for most crews under ten

Jobber is the closest like-for-like swap, which is why it wins by default. On annual billing a single user pays $29 on Core, $99 on Connect, or $149 on Grow, each listed against higher monthly rates of $49, $139, and $199. Team pricing steps up from there through a plan selector rather than a flat per-seat meter.

What you get for the switch is a better client experience out of the box: online booking, automated reminders, two-way SMS on Connect, and quote follow-ups that run themselves. Grow adds job costing and custom workflow automations, which is where a shop doing $1M-plus starts finding money. The head-to-head detail sits in our Jobber vs Housecall Pro comparison, and the honest summary there is that the seat price decides it for most people.

Where Jobber loses: it is not dramatically cheaper than HCP at small headcounts, and if your objection was price alone rather than fit, the next two options save more.

ServiceM8 pricing page showing Free at 0 dollars, Starter at 29, Growing at 79, Premium at 149 and Premium Plus at 349 per month, each with unlimited users and a monthly job cap
ServiceM8's pricing page, September 2026. Every paid plan carries unlimited users and meters jobs per month instead. For a big crew doing moderate job volume, this inverts the whole cost equation.

    2. ServiceM8, if headcount is the problem

ServiceM8 does the one thing that solves the Housecall Pro complaint completely: it stops charging for people. Every paid plan carries unlimited users and meters monthly job count instead. Starter is $29 for 50 jobs a month, Growing is $79 for 150, Premium is $149 for 500, and Premium Plus is $349 for 1,500 or more. There is a genuine free tier at one user and 30 jobs a month.

Run the twelve-person comparison. That shop on HCP Essentials pays $849 a month. If it completes 150 jobs a month, ServiceM8 Growing costs $79. The gap is not a rounding difference, it is a truck payment.

The catch is real and you should weigh it. Job-volume pricing punishes exactly the businesses that do many small jobs, so a service plumber running eight short calls a day will hit 150 jobs inside a month and climb the tiers fast. High-ticket, low-volume trades like roofing, HVAC replacement and remodeling get the best of this model. ServiceM8 is also Apple-first in heritage, with a phone add-on from $19 a month on top.

    3. Service Fusion, for a flat company price

Service Fusion charges the company, not the head. Starter is $208 a month on annual billing, Plus is $325, and Pro is $533, each with unlimited users and no contract. Monthly billing runs $245, $382, and $627.

Below about six people this is the most expensive option on the page and you should ignore it. Above ten it is frequently the cheapest thing you can put every tech and office seat on, and the crossover gets wider with every hire. Plus is the tier most crews actually need, since job costing and the integrated phone line are where the operational savings show up. Full detail in our Service Fusion pricing post.

The software is not why the phone is quiet

Switching platforms fixes your admin, but getting found is what fills the schedule. We do the second part.

    4. Kickserv, for the cheapest competent option

Kickserv bundles seats generously and prices low. Start covers 5 users at $60 a month, Run covers 10 at $119, and Scale covers 20 at $199, with 20 percent off on annual billing and a 30-day free trial. Compare Scale at $199 for twenty people against Housecall Pro MAX at $1,199 for the same twenty and the pitch writes itself.

You are trading polish for that. The mobile app, the client-facing booking experience, and the marketing tooling are all a step behind Jobber and Housecall Pro, and the QuickBooks Desktop integration is a $50 a month add-on rather than included. For a shop that wants scheduling, dispatch, invoicing and time tracking without paying per body, it is the best value on this list.

    5. Workiz, for call-heavy operations

Workiz is built around the phone, with call tracking and recording wired into the job record, which suits locksmiths, garage door companies, appliance repair and anyone whose leads arrive as inbound calls all day. Pricing is quote-only; third parties report roughly $225 to $325 a month for five users. Our Workiz pricing post works through the reported figures and what the phone layer adds.

    6. ServiceTitan, only past ten technicians

ServiceTitan is a different weight class and pricing it against Housecall Pro is a category error. It is quote-only, sold on annual contracts with implementation fees in the thousands, and it pays off when dispatch complexity, membership programs, or multi-location reporting become daily pain. Below roughly ten to fifteen technicians you will pay enterprise prices for a third of the features. The ServiceTitan pricing post covers what operators actually report.

When to stay on Housecall Pro

Three cases, and they are common. You are a one or two-person shop on Basic at $59 a month, where HCP is competitively priced and the online booking experience is the best in the category. You rely on the consumer-facing booking and review flows that HCP has spent years polishing, and a cheaper tool would cost you conversions worth more than the savings. Or you have years of job history, customer records and price book data in the system, and the migration cost is real work that nobody has time for in your busy season.

That last one deserves honesty. Switching platforms takes a slow week minimum, and doing it in July is how shops end up running two systems badly. If you are going to move, move in the off-season and export everything first.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Housecall Pro?

Jobber for most home service businesses under ten people, at $29 to $149 a month on annual billing for a single user with strong scheduling, quoting, and client communication. If the reason you are leaving is the per-user cost, ServiceM8 and Service Fusion both offer unlimited users, and Kickserv bundles 20 users for $199 a month.

Why is Housecall Pro so expensive for larger teams?

Because seats are metered above the bundled count. Essentials includes five users at $149 a month and charges $100 for each one after that; MAX includes eight at $299 and charges $75 each. A twelve-person team lands at $849 a month on Essentials or $599 on MAX, which is where unlimited-user platforms start winning.

Is there a free alternative to Housecall Pro?

ServiceM8 has a genuine free plan covering one user and 30 jobs a month, which works for a solo operator with light volume. Beyond that, the cheapest paid entries are Jobber Core at $29 a month and ServiceM8 Starter at $29 with unlimited users, both on annual billing.

Is Jobber cheaper than Housecall Pro?

At the entry level, yes: Jobber Core is $29 a month on annual billing against Housecall Pro Basic at $59. Higher up the comparison is closer and depends on team size, since both bundle seats differently. The larger your crew, the more the per-seat rates decide it.

How hard is it to switch from Housecall Pro?

Plan on a week of real work. Export your customer list, job history, price book, and any open estimates before you cancel, confirm the new platform can import them, and run both systems in parallel for a fortnight. Do it in your slow season, never in peak.
