Housecall Pro Reviews (2026): 4.7 on Capterra, 1.52 at the BBB

    TL;DR

Housecall Pro's reviews split by where you read them, and the split is the review. On October 19, 2026, Capterra shows 4.7 out of 5 across 2,749 reviews with ease of use at 4.6 and customer service at 4.7. G2 shows 4.3. Trustpilot shows 2.8 across 695 reviews, with payment processing the one topic reviewers there "consistently note negative experiences" with. The Better Business Bureau shows 1.52 out of 5 across 77 customer reviews, not accredited. The software-directory crowd rates the product; the complaint-site crowd rates the support and the billing. Both are right. Housecall Pro is a good field service app for a one-to-eight-person home service company that lives on a phone, with the best review-request automation in its price band, and it is a frustrating vendor when something breaks, because support is a web chat and the person on it may not know the feature changed. Published pricing is $59, $149 and $299 a month on annual billing, but the plan picker quoted us $299 and $649 for a small plumbing crew, so budget from the quote. Under three trucks, price Jobber first. Over ten, price ServiceTitan. In between, this is the one to beat.

Who we are to review this

Skill Mammoth builds websites and runs SEO for home service contractors. We do not sell field service software, we have no Housecall Pro affiliate deal, and several of our clients run their businesses on it, which means we see the app from the side the reviews rarely cover: what happens to a lead once the website hands it over. This review reads every public rating source as of October 19, 2026, quotes the reviewers by name and date, and pairs it with what we wrote in the Housecall Pro pricing guide about what the plan picker actually quotes. Where we have an opinion, it is labeled as ours.

    What the ratings actually say

VerdictA 4.7 and a 1.52 for the same product is not a contradiction. People who buy software love the scheduling and the review automation; people who hit a billing or support problem could not get a human. Read both before you sign.

    What reviewers like

Scheduling and dispatch, first and most often. "The scheduling feature is very intuitive and makes managing jobs and technicians straightforward and efficient," wrote Murtaza L., a general manager at a construction company with 11 to 50 employees, on Capterra in April 2026. The mobile app, which even the critics concede: "I like that the UI is smooth on a tablet or phone," wrote Damian C., an owner, in June 2026, before finishing the sentence less kindly. Price-list flexibility, automated emails, estimate approvals and invoicing, per Ryan T., a managing partner in remediation who switched from mHelpDesk. And the review engine, which is the feature we see pay for itself: "because Housecall Pro sends out a request for a review, we have more 5-star reviews than anyone close to our size," wrote George M. in a four-star BBB review on October 1, 2026, "very loyal to these folks even though getting help can be difficult." That last clause is the whole review in one sentence.

    What reviewers complain about

Support, by a wide margin. The complaint is not that support is rude; it is that support is a chat window. "Critical, established features break with no warning, and the support team (which is only available via web chat) often isn't aware of the changes, let alone trained to help resolve them," wrote Karen G., an office manager, on Capterra. George M.'s loyal four stars came with "they push us in the direction of realtime chats where the tech could be managing 5-6 chats at the same time." James Kelly, on Trustpilot on September 28, 2026: "I like Housecall Pro from a running a business standpoint. But their customer service is horrible."

Payment processing, second. Trustpilot's own summary of 178 recent reviews says customers "consistently note negative experiences with payment processing," and the pricing page's 2.59 percent card rate plus a 1 percent bank-payment fee is where that starts; disputes about holds and payouts are where it ends up. The desktop interface, third: Damian C. called it "absolutely a mess on a computer," and Benjamin B., an owner of two-plus years, wrote in July 2026 that "solid features and a deteriorating layout result in a poor product." Features changing underfoot, fourth, which is a software-company habit rather than a Housecall Pro invention, but one that lands harder when the support channel is chat. And billing after cancellation, which is most of what the 77 BBB reviews are about, including an October 6, 2026 reviewer who received a "successfully paid" email for an account she says she never opened; Housecall Pro's reply says it could not find the account and asked for the details.

Housecall Pro pricing page showing Basic, Essentials and MAX plans
Housecall Pro's pricing page. $59, $149 and $299 a month on annual billing. The plan picker quoted us $299 and $649 for a two-to-five-person plumbing crew.

    Pricing, quickly

Published tiers on annual billing are Basic at $59 a month for one user, Essentials at $149 for five users and MAX at $299 for eight, or $79, $189 and $329 billed monthly, with extra seats at $100 and $75 on the upper tiers. Card processing starts at 2.59 percent plus a 1 percent fee on bank payments. When we ran the plan picker as a plumbing company with a two-to-five-person crew, it came back with a team Essentials at $299 and a team MAX at $649 a month, which is the number to budget from. The pricing guide walks the whole funnel, and the Housecall Pro Marketing comparison covers the website and marketing bolt-ons, which cap you at 15 pages and no blog.

Who Housecall Pro is right for

A home service company with one to eight people in the field that runs from phones, bills on the spot, and wants review requests, online booking and basic automations without an implementation project. Plumbers, electricians, cleaners, HVAC repair, handyman and lawn crews with a repeat book. The five-user Essentials tier is the sweet spot: enough seats for a small crew, the review engine, and the automations that make a two-person office feel like four. If your current system is a shared calendar and a card reader, Housecall Pro is a real step up and the reviews reflect that.

    Who should pick something else

A solo operator who needs invoicing and scheduling and nothing else should price Jobber Core at $29 a month on annual billing first; the Jobber versus Housecall Pro comparison comes down to seat price. A company that wants a phone number for billing problems should know there is not one worth relying on, by the reviews. A shop with ten or more technicians, a sales team and a call center is past what Housecall Pro's reporting is built for and should read our ServiceTitan review and its contract warnings before assuming bigger is better. A roofer doing insurance work needs AccuLynx or JobNimbus. And anyone who processes most revenue by card should read the Trustpilot payment complaints before moving processing off a bank they already trust.

Housecall Pro versus the alternatives, quickly

Jobber: cheaper per seat at the low end ($29 to $149 on annual), cleaner QuickBooks sync, best mobile app in the category, fewer marketing features; our Jobber review has the same treatment. Workiz: $65 to $199 a month with a stronger phone and messaging layer, popular with locksmiths and junk removal. FieldPulse: $150 to $400 typical quotes, with a customer portal and strong estimates. ServiceTitan: quoted only, $245 to $500 a technician reported, 12-month minimums, for the shop that outgrows all three. The field service software guide ranks ten of them, and the alternatives guide prices six.

    The verdict

Buy Housecall Pro for the field app, the scheduling and the review engine, at the price the plan picker quotes rather than the price on the billboard, and go in knowing that support is a chat and that payment processing is where the one-star reviews live. A 4.7 on Capterra and a 1.52 at the BBB describe the same company from two distances, and the right distance for a five-person crew is the first one, as long as you keep your card processing decision separate and read the cancellation terms before the annual renewal date. The software is not the reason most of our clients lose jobs; the follow-up system is, and Housecall Pro's automations are a good place to build one.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is Housecall Pro any good?

For a one-to-eight-person home service company, yes. Capterra rates it 4.7 across 2,749 reviews and G2 4.3, with scheduling, the mobile app and review requests the most-praised features. The weak points by the reviews are chat-only support, payment processing disputes and a desktop interface reviewers call a mess.

Why are Housecall Pro's BBB and Trustpilot ratings so low?

Because those sites collect complaints rather than product reviews. The BBB shows 1.52 out of 5 across 77 reviews and the business is not accredited; Trustpilot shows 2.8 across 695. The themes are billing after cancellation, payment holds and not reaching a human. Capterra and G2 users are rating the software; BBB and Trustpilot users are rating what happened when it went wrong.

How much does Housecall Pro cost?

Published: $59, $149 and $299 a month on annual billing for one, five and eight users, or $79, $189 and $329 billed monthly, with extra seats at $100 and $75 on the upper tiers and card processing from 2.59 percent. The plan picker quoted a two-to-five-person plumbing crew $299 for Essentials and $649 for MAX, so expect the quote to run above the tier.

Is Housecall Pro better than Jobber?

For a solo operator or a crew of two or three, Jobber is cheaper per seat and has the better mobile app and QuickBooks sync. For a crew of four to eight that wants marketing automation, online booking and the review engine in one place, Housecall Pro wins. The seat price usually decides it.

Does Housecall Pro have phone support?

Support runs through in-app and web chat, with reviewers across Capterra, Trustpilot and the BBB describing chat as the channel they are pushed to and the main complaint. Budget for that, and keep your own records of billing and cancellation emails.

What does Housecall Pro charge for payments?

Card processing starts at 2.59 percent per transaction, with a 1 percent fee on bank payments. Payment processing is the one topic Trustpilot's summary of recent reviews flags as consistently negative, so compare against the processor you already use before moving revenue over.
